What You'll Do

We are currently seeking a Merchandising Manager to lead the overall merchandising strategy for outdoor apparel & gear in North America.  This role works with the category VP in North America, as well as the global merchandising and product teams in France to develop and implement meaningful assortments and merchandising plans by consumer and channel.  Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Develops seasonal, annual and long-term product strategy and merchandising plans for outdoor apparel & gear
  • Defines consumer right assortments by shopper profile and channel
  • Identifies gaps in merchandising plan, provides feedback and input to global product team in order to ensure product sufficiency
  • Manages pricing, volume, margin, inventory and channel mix to achieve profitability targets
  • Conducts regular landscape assessments including competitor benchmarking, marketplace assessment and brand positioning
  • Analyzes data and insights to determine industry and consumer trends and implement into merchandising plans
  • Owns the omnichannel market demand planning forecast for the category
  • Works with sales, supply chain and demand planning teams to ensure product flow and inventory meets business objectives
  • Collaborates with the broader merchandising team in achieving brand objectives
  • Supports the VP in seasonal plans with input on pricing, volume, margin, inventory and channel mix to achieve targets
  • Partners with shopper marketing team to enhance the consumer experience in the marketplace
  • Collaborates with sales team to identify new market opportunities, provide consumer relevant selling tools and deliver seasonal merchandising package
  • Supports sales in key account meetings, sales launches, introduction to new technologies, etc.
  • Acts as the product expert for the category with internal and external stakeholders (executes product training and education)

What We're Looking For

This role requires a bachelors degree and 5+ years of related experience in merchandising, product or category management in the outdoor industry, with focus on Apparel & Gear preferred.  Other qualifications include:


  • Merchandising expertise
  • Passion for fashion
  • Ability to develop effective processes and procedures
  • Attention to detail, strong planning, organizing and preparation skill
  • Ability to identify and predict trends
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of finance
  • Analytical with demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills, including strong interpersonal skills with ability to influence and gain buy in from key stakeholders; strong presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a multi-stakeholder, international matrix environment
