What You'll Do

We are seeking a highly creative and skilled Product Design Engineer (or Industrial Designer) for Snowboard Bindings to join our dynamic team. As the Binding Product Designer / Developer, you will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and developing snowboard products that align with our brand's vision and market demands. This role requires a robust comprehension of injection-molded materials, stamped and forged metals, intricate multiple-component designs, and their corresponding manufacturing processes.

 

Manage the development process of snowboard binding line from initial concept through production:

  • Conceptualization and Design: Develop innovative concepts and designs for snowboard bindings. Translate design ideas into sketches, renderings, and technical drawings.
  • Material Selection: Research and select appropriate materials for each product, considering factors such as quality, performance, cost, and sustainability.
  • Technical Development: Work closely with cross-functional teams including quality, engineering, and manufacturing to ensure that designs are technically feasible and optimized for production.
  • Prototyping and Sampling: Oversee the creation of prototypes and samples, collaborating with suppliers and manufacturers to refine designs and address any issues that arise during the sampling process.
  • Product Testing: Coordinate and manage product testing needs including lab and on-snow testing.
  • Trend Analysis: Stay informed about current product trends, consumer preferences, and market developments related to the snowboard market, and integrate insights into the design process to create products that resonate with our target audience.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough quality inspections of prototypes and samples to ensure that finished products meet design specifications and quality standards.
  • Documentation and Communication: Maintain detailed design documentation including specifications, measurements, technical drawings, and BOMs. Communicate effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and vendors throughout the design and development process.

What We're Looking For

This role requires a Bachelor’s degree in industrial design, mechanical engineering, or a related field. A minimum of 3-5 years of work experience in the engineering or industrial design fields, focusing on moderately complex products, is required. Experience with injection-molded part design and proficiency in 3D CAD software are also necessary.

 

Other qualifications include: 

  • Strong understanding of materials science and manufacturing process
  • Project management and problem-solving experience.
  • Passion for snowboarding and a deep understanding of the needs and preferences of snowboarders.
  • Excellent technical, interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
  • Team player attitude
  • Ability to multi-task and work at a fast pace
  • Excellent follow-up
  • High product affinity, sound understanding of consumer needs and commercial market.
  • Solid computer skills (MS Office, 3D modeling) are required.
  • Independent and structured work method
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams, Solidworks or similar 3D solid modeling software.
  • Fluent communication skills in English, a secondary language is a plus
